The E-Commerce Launch Checklist: Woo + Shippo + Pixel + GA4
Launching a WooCommerce store is not the same as flipping a switch. The difference between a store that quietly loses orders and one that scales is a handful of unglamorous configuration steps most teams skip. This is the ecommerce launch checklist we run on every WooCommerce build at GrowthHouse Digital, using our work on Company A, e-commerce (name redacted under MNDA) as the working example.
Start With the Order Lifecycle, Not the Homepage
Before a single ad runs, the store has to reliably move an order from “paid” to “delivered” without a human babysitting it. In WooCommerce, every order passes through statuses, pending, on-hold, processing, completed, and each transition should trigger the right email and the right internal action. Get this wrong and customers email you asking “did my order go through?” while you’re trying to spend on traffic.
- Auto-advance on-hold → processing. For stores taking manual or bank-transfer-style payments, orders can land in “on-hold” and sit there. We configure the flow so a confirmed payment moves the order to “processing” automatically, which is the status that actually kicks off fulfillment.
- Confirm which emails fire, to whom. WooCommerce sends both customer-facing (order confirmation, processing, completed, invoice) and admin-facing (new order) emails. We test each one from a real checkout, not the WooCommerce preview button.
- Brand the transactional emails. Logo, colors, from-name, and reply-to all get set so the receipt looks like the brand, not a default WordPress gray box.
Wire Shipping and Tracking Sync (Shippo)
Fulfillment is where new stores quietly break trust. We connect Shippo to WooCommerce so that buying a label writes the tracking number and carrier back to the order, and, critically, so that tracking sync pushes a shipment notification to the customer automatically.
- Two-way tracking sync. When a label is created in Shippo, the tracking number flows back into the WooCommerce order and into the customer’s “completed” email. No copy-paste.
- Carrier and rate setup. Live rates at checkout (or flat rates by zone) get configured before launch so customers aren’t overcharged or undercharged on shipping.
- Status hygiene. Shipping a Shippo label marks the order “completed,” which is what triggers the shipping-confirmation email. We verify that chain end to end.
For Company A, this same operational foundation supported a Meta program that returned roughly 3.7x ROAS on $6,118.88 in spend across 156 purchases, traffic only compounds when fulfillment doesn’t leak.
Install Tracking Before You Spend a Dollar (Pixel + GA4 + GTM)
You cannot optimize what you cannot measure, and retrofitting analytics after launch means throwing away your first weeks of data. We stand up the full measurement stack first.
The measurement layer
- Google Tag Manager as the container. One GTM container manages the Meta Pixel, GA4 config tag, and any conversion tags, so nothing is hard-coded into the theme and every tag is versioned.
- GA4 with real ecommerce events. Not just page views,
view_item,add_to_cart,begin_checkout, andpurchasewith value and currency, so revenue reporting actually works. - Meta Pixel with matched events. ViewContent, AddToCart, InitiateCheckout, and Purchase, deduplicated against server-side events where CAPI is in play.
We validate every event with the GA4 DebugView and Meta’s Test Events tool from a live checkout before launch. A Pixel that fires “Purchase” on page load instead of at order completion will wreck your ad optimization, we catch that here, not after you’ve spent.
Don’t Launch SEO-Blind (RankMath)
Product and category pages are your long-term, zero-cost acquisition channel. We configure RankMath at launch so the store ships indexable and structured, not as an afterthought.
- Titles and meta templates for products and categories, so you’re not manually writing 200 tags.
- Product schema (Product, Offer, price, availability) so listings are eligible for rich results.
- Sitemap + robots submitted to Google Search Console, with cart, checkout, and account pages excluded from indexing.
- Canonical and noindex hygiene on filtered/variation URLs to avoid duplicate-content bloat.

Compliance Language at Checkout
For any store in a regulated or claim-sensitive category, the checkout is a compliance surface, not just a payment form. On Company A we built research-use-only framing directly into the buying flow.
- Terms/acknowledgment checkbox at checkout where the use-case requires it.
- Consistent product framing across titles, descriptions, and cart, no stray claims that contradict the store’s positioning.
- Clear policies (shipping, returns, terms) linked in the footer and at checkout, which also helps with payment-processor and platform reviews.
